Friday Connection 5.15. 2020
My earned degree of Doctor of Ministry does not qualify me to speak of COVID like viruses in our bloodstreams. What do I say about parents who are like my mother, now 86, was. Parents who want their healthy children to play with the sick children sometimes so that they could build up the God-produced antibodies needed to live a healthy and productive life. I did get the mandatory vaccinations as well. In addition, I read that dairy farm raised kids like myself are often the healthiest people. Maybe I’m just an alien raised on whole milk. I could be a twin alien? I do know this; I am a blessed ‘alien.’
I am an over the top blessed child of God because I am His child. I am good today and even getting better because of Him!! The Apostle Paul put it this way, ‘super-abundantly good;’ “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.” Ephesians 3:20,21.
Having God’s fruit at the core of my life, ‘flowing through my veins,’ are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Cough! Cough! Even when I am sick. “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another,” Galatians 5:22,23.
Christian Life Chapel is an over the top blessed local Body of Christ. We remain assured and unshakeable in our faith precisely because the evidence of our faith is so strong. We have great evidence-based faith and getting stronger as we encourage each other toward loving and sharing Jesus more! The Apostle Paul put it this way, himself having cliff-hanger faith: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13. There is a faithful cling to these words during difficult circumstances. Faithfulness has been in good supply around CLC. Thank you friends for not letting your God-given strength drain away during quarantine. So often we stand on the cusp of some anxiety inducing situation as others annoyingly yelp, ‘panic.’ Yelping gets gritty even to the yelper. Yet you live out what is means to hang on, to never let go, to never waste the faith gift God has given to you.
“Jesus strengthens us incredibly when we are faced with the incredible. Looking forward, we can do all things, including standing strong when we know we will not be delivered from our earthly trouble.” – Abdu Murray
The following words sober us into a different reality; “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (highlights are mine) Romans 8:37-39.
Humbly, I confess for all of us, we are not extra-ordinary. We just rely on the One who is. “Preserve me, O God, for you I take refuge. I say to the LORD, You are my Lord, I have no good apart from you.” Psalm 16:1,2
Bill B has on-going health concerns related to surgeries needed. Pray that ‘elective’ procedures can be scheduled soon for his sake.
