Now THIS!  Palm Sunday is next Sunday!  Consider this most fascinating and perfect God ordained prophetic development…

When Gabriel gave Daniel (Daniel Chapter 9 verse 20 and following) the prophecy about Jesus, Israel was in exile in Persian-controlled Babylon. Gabriel was telling Daniel—and us—that a proclamation would be issued, ordering the reconstruction of Jerusalem. Following that decree, seven sevens of years plus sixty-two sevens of years would pass, and then the Messiah, the Anointed One, would appear.

The “sevens” in Gabriel’s prophecy are seven-year periods, and with a simple calculation: 7 times 7 equals 49; 62 times 7 equals 434;  49 plus 434 equals 483.  So the Messiah would come to Israel 483 years after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. The people of that era used a 360-day calendar, so 483 biblical years equals 476 years on our calendar. When was the decree to rebuild Jerusalem issued?  Answer: “The prophet Nehemiah records such a decree, and he dates it as the twentieth year of Artaxerxes. On our calendar, that date is 444 BC”  The Messiah’s time would come in the year AD 33, according to Gabriel’s prophecy.

Jesus made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a Sunday, and he was crucified the following Friday. The Crucifixion had to have occurred in a year when the 14th of Nisan fell on a Friday. The 14th of Nisan fell on a Friday only twice during Pilate’s time as procurator: April 7, AD 30, and April 3, AD 33. It quickly becomes clear that Friday, April 3, AD 33, was the date of the Crucifixion. The Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem—the official appearance of the Messiah to Israel—took place on Sunday, March 29, AD 33—exactly as Gabriel foretold.
