Thursday Connection 4.16. 2020

Do you see what I see?  Get out, come and see. Downtown Colchester is getting torn up, deep ditches right now. Literally. Its called progress. Ditches even feel good. Looking ahead to a future!

We gave you an announcement two days ago about our summer church ANNUAL OUTDOOR WORSHIP SERVICE AND PICNIC with the guest speaker Mike Cordry – ‘The Lighter Side’ and his family from Teen Challenge, August 23.  Mark you calendar.

It is my joy to announce as well that our FALL BANQUET details have been confirmed for Saturday evening, November 7 starting with a 5:30 dinner.  We will have the joy of hosting Walter Santos and his wife.  Walter is a professional Gospel vocalist who will share his testimony and encouragement to us.  Get this… ready?… DOO Wop!  Here’s a sample of Walter’s testimony and music!!!   https://youtu.be/S2OuR9bJTuo  (Walter’s Gospel DOO Wop begins at the six-minute mark on the videoed worship service.)

Starting Sunday morning May 3 through October  I will be preaching through the Gospel of Mark, a series titled; ‘FOLLOW ME’  Mark 1:6 Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20 And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.

It takes about an hour to read through this shortest of the four Gospels.  It was also the first Gospel written.  And who was John Mark, this Gospel writer?  The story of his entrance into the first Century church is most interesting.  I believe Peter was his closest mentor, 1 Peter 5:13.  God was at work in this young mans’ life in amazing ways.  He had a future. The story of the gift of faith and spiritual progress is found in Acts 12 and Acts 15 and a must, read also 2 Timothy 4:11.

Today’s Blessing: Psalm 73:25-28  Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
